Hey there, lately I have been asked why I schedule most of my sessions either early in the morning OR later in the day. This is why...

Let's talk about something that's near and dear to my heart – the golden hour. If you're not already familiar, the golden hour is that magical time shortly after sunrise or before sunset when the light is soft, warm, and simply enchanting. As a photographer, scheduling sessions during this time is like hitting the jackpot for the best results, and let me tell you why.

First and foremost, there's something undeniably special about the quality of light during the golden hour. It's as if nature herself is painting with the most delicate strokes, casting a golden glow that can transform even the most ordinary scenes into something extraordinary. The way the light gently kisses the landscape, casting long shadows and illuminating every detail, is nothing short of mesmerizing.
But it's not just about the light – although, let's be honest, that's a huge part of it. The golden hour also sets the perfect mood for capturing unforgettable moments. There's a certain warmth and intimacy that permeates the air, making it ideal for everything from romantic couples' shoots to playful family portraits. It's like the world slows down just a little bit, allowing us to savor each moment and create memories that will last a lifetime.
And let's not forget about the colors. Oh, the colors! During the golden hour, everything seems to come alive with vibrant hues that dance across the sky. From soft pinks and oranges to deep blues and purples, the palette of possibilities is truly endless. As a photographer, having this natural canvas to work with is a dream come true, allowing us to experiment with composition, contrast, and mood in ways that simply wouldn't be possible at any other time of day.

Of course, scheduling sessions during the golden hour does require a bit of planning and flexibility. After all, Mother Nature can be unpredictable, and sometimes she likes to throw a curveball in the form of clouds or inclement weather. But trust me when I say that it's worth the effort. The moments we capture during the golden hour have a magic all their own – a timeless quality that transcends mere photographs and becomes something truly special.
So, whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out on your photography journey, I encourage you to embrace the golden hour and all the beauty it has to offer. Set your alarm a little earlier or linger a little longer in the evening – I promise you won't regret it. After all, some of the most breathtaking moments happen when the world is bathed in golden light.
Until next time, happy shooting!
